Happy New Year !!!

The lull between Xmas and New Year is for me time to reflect on the year that's nearly over and make a few plans for the coming year........................

Over the last few months life has been busy in the country with plenty of house keeping in the garden making sure every thing was just right for our Open Garden Week..........

The Roses put on a show, this ones called Wedding Day.

No late heavy frosts so this year we should enjoy lots of fruit..................... peaches, nectarines, cherries, apples and mulberries.

Planting of seeds then nurturing and planting of seedlings into the kitchen garden ....... keeping our fingers crossed for a bumper crop of tomatoes !!!!

Already zucchini.......lettuce....leeks.....spring onions..... basil......dill and rhubarb.

And plenty of Garlic to cook up a Storm .........

Happy New Year to all, health and happiness for 2013.............oh and a little bit of rain...................

Hello Spring..........................

I must confess I had been counting down the days until the arrival of SPRING........................

Matilda and Charlie enjoying the Sunshine.

Nature diddn't dissapoint we had a couple of beautiful sunny days perfect for planting out new seedlings into the kitchen garden.

Beetroot      Spring onions       Spinach          Tuscan Kale           Lettuce

Also seeds of Carrots    Parsnips     Sugar Snap peas     Lettuce        Chives     Radish     Coriander

The most exciting start to Spring was the birth of our first lamb for the season..........................

After a couple of days mum has let me get a little closer, an interesting breed of sheep the Damara or Fat Tailed sheep has fleece that is shed over the warmer months so there is no need for shearing.

We have 7 more ewes ready to lamb so this little one will have some playmates soon.....................
